Who remembers kitchens like these....notice the iron plugged into the light socket..my mum didn't have an ironing board she used to iron on our kitchen table with a blanket on the top....
A 1940's sitting room...all looks very cosy and it was with the open fire...
We even attended a Wedding...the brides outfit is just like my mum wore on her wedding day...the cake on the table was of course made of cardboard and when they 'lifted' the cake up there was a little sponge cake underneath.....
Two lovely ladies I met and we had a great laugh...everyone is so friendly and I suppose its because we are all dressing up and having such fun.....
Dinking a glass of bubbly at the wedding.... think the backpack spoils the photo!
Andy got 'arrested' by one of the American MP's for trying to sell his backmarket stuff....his case is full of stockings...cigarettes and in his jacket he has watches and more nylons...
A 'spiv' trying to sell me a pair of red knickers....I did tell him they were a little too 'big'...lOl...lOl....
He really was a lovely MP and finally let Andy 'go'....
Its so much fun doing these 1940's weekends and of course there is music on most of the railway stations which gives it such a fabulous atmosphere...
Hope I haven't bored you all .. ..I will be back with a card on Weds....

That all looks like so much fun and the kitchen shots reminded me of home, especially the iron plugged into the light socket - where was 'elf and safety' then??
Oh Anne!! How fabulous, what a trip down Memory Lane. Gosh I do remember the kitchen cabinet with the pull out (or was it drop down) surface for baking days. AND the iron plugged into the light :) Looks as if you had a great day - am so glad you shared with us.
Hugs, Di xx
Oh what a super day you must have had. I well remember the iron plugged into the light socket in the `50`s. I don`t think much changed until the `60`s. Fab photo`s bring back some great memories.

You have note bored me at all Anne, really enjoyed looking at the photos and it looks like such fun, just a little before my time but have read about those irons, the safety elements leave much to be desired.

Hi Anne
Fabulous photographs!
We love going to places like this where we can go and spot things that our parents and grandparents used to have in their homes/wardrobes.
Looks like you had a brilliant time.
