Faux Mother of Pearl Technique......

Our second project we did on our Club night last week was the Faux Mother of Pearl technique which I saw on Loll Thompsons Blog....this is the link to her Tutorial  Faux Mother of pearl
A lovely technique where you splodge Pearl acrylic paint ( I used Hobbycraft Colout it pearlised paint found in the childrens section) on your card let it dry then apply water based inks colour of your choice then buff it up....you get the most amazing backgrounds..I did use a very slightly damp paper towel to buff up my  card which seemed to enhance the pearly background..

This card I've used just green and red ink added a Cheery Lynne swirl, the poinsettia I won from Loll last year...ribbon is from Stampin Up, sentiment All Occason dies..
This card is better in real life, I've used blues and mauves and added a topper, lace border is cheery Lynne, Corner Whimsy
For my background on this card I've used two different green inks pads, the pearly effect hasn't photographed well on this card... I've used All Occasion dies pine set to make my wreath without the pines cones! S.U. embossing folder, Martha Stewart holly punch and Sue Wilson petite bow....
Hope you do try this technique as you can make some stunning backgrounds...

We have lovely sunshine in Somerset this morning but there is a nip in the air...

Love the soft green and red background to show off your poinsettia; sweet bear image on your second card and looks great with the blues and mauves; and LOVE love that pine wreath on the green background - awesome!!
